Employment and Wages by Industry, 1990 to Most Recent
The Quarterly Census of Employment and Wage (QCEW) program is responsible for the compilation and analysis of employment, wage and contribution data by
industry and geography for all employers covered by the Employment Security Law of North Carolina. Data include quarterly and annual summaries by
industry of the number of firms, average employment, monthly employment, total wages, average weekly wages, taxable wages, and employer contribution
rates to unemployment insurance. The industry data, based on the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS), is provided from 1990 to the
present for North Carolina, the 14 Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs), seven Economic Development Regions (EDRs), 24 Workforce Development Boards
(WDBs), 18 Planning Regions and all 100 counties. Use the NAICS code look-up link below to view descriptions of the various NAICS industry codes.

employment for the quarter. This information is derived from the Employment and Wages program files and shows company name, major industry group and employment range.

Monthly Employment Hours and Earnings Current Employment Statistics (CES)
The Current Employment Statistics (CES) program, also known as the
establishment or payroll survey, collects monthly data from a sampling
of North Carolina employers. On this site, estimates of the number of
payroll jobs within industries for the United States, North Carolina and
its Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) are available from 1990 to the
present. Included are seasonally adjusted estimates for the major
industry sectors for the state and nation, allowing for better
comparison over time by smoothing seasonal trends. Estimates of the
average weekly and hourly earnings, and average hours worked for
production workers and nonsupervisory employees in the Manufacturing
sector (Durable and Nondurable Goods) are also provided for the nation
and North Carolina.

North Carolina Industry Projections 2006-2016
The Industry and Occupational Projections program is responsible for producing future estimates of employment Statewide and for the twenty-four defined Workforce Development Board Areas.
All data used in the export base model are gathered from the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW), the Current Employment Statistics (CES) survey results, Census data,
State Office of Budget and Management and the Occupational Employment Statistics (OES).

Business Employment Dynamics (BED) News
Business Employment Dynamics is a set of statistics generated from the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages, or ES-202 program. These quarterly data series consist of gross job gains
and gross job losses statistics from 1992 forward. These data help to provide a picture of the dynamic state of the labor market.
